Welcome. If you’ve stumbled upon this corner of the internet, you might be wondering how high-end culinary arts, a high-stakes obsession with the turf, and the quiet devotion of a writer’s inkwell end up on the same plate.

The truth is, my life has always lived at the intersection of heat, adrenaline, and imagination.

By day, I am an executive chef. I’ve been lucky enough to run the kitchens at iconic institutions like the V&A and the British Museum, picking up two Chef of the Year awards and a Newcomers Award along the way. Cooking has always been my vocation, but it's never felt like a job—it’s a lifelong hobby that simply grew into a career.

But when the whites come off, my mind drifts. It goes to the blank page, where I write for the pure joy of storytelling (and where the brilliant community over at Booksie has given me the kind of encouragement that keeps a writer moving forward).

And, inevitably, my mind goes to the racetrack.

I’ve followed horseracing my entire life, stretching back to the magic of Red Rum’s historic Grand National wins. It’s a passion that has seen me track the greats and, occasionally, back them with everything I’ve got—like the unforgettable afternoon I put £20,000 on Big Buck’s to do what he did best up the hill at Cheltenham.
